A brief history of Hanham Health and how it became Hanham Secure Health

1934 – Hanham Health is founded by Dr Ridgeway

1994 – Hanham Surgery at 33 Whittucks Road opens

2005 – Hanham Health, under Dr Bernard Whiteside, begins delivering GP sessions at HMP Eastwood Park

2006 – Hanham Health begins delivering GP and Nursing services to the children and young people at Vinney Green Children’s Secure Home

2007 – Hanham Health begins providing weekly GP sessions to the service users at the AWP rehabilitation unit at 37 Whittucks Road

2008 – Hanham Health is asked to take over the GP provision at HMP Leyhill, following the departure of the previous GP provider

2009 – Hanham Surgery merges with Oldland Surgery

2010 – Dr Paul Taylor takes over as Senior Partner at Hanham Health

2013 – Hanham Health is asked to take over the GP services at HMP Ashfield, following the recategorization of the prison and the departure of the previous GP provider

2015 – Hanham Health and AWP successfully bid for the healthcare services at Swanwick Lodge Children’s Secure Home in Southampton

2016 – Hanham Health, Bristol Community Health and AWP successfully bid for the local offender health cluster contract, under the identify of InspireBetterHealth. Hanham Health adds HMP Bristol and HMP Erlestoke to its portfolio of GP services

2018 – Hanham Health merges with Almondsbury Surgery, adding a third general practice surgery to its portfolio

2018 – Hanham Health begins providing GP and Nursing services to Fromeside and Wickham units at AWP’s Blackberry Hill secure hospital site

2019 – Hanham Health successfully bids to provide NHS Wales Informatics Service with SystmOne consultancy to support the five prisons in Wales

2019 – Hanham Health successfully bids for the Vasectomy Service for Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire

2020 – Hanham Health launches its new company, Hanham Secure Health Ltd. HSH works with AWP to take on the remaining period of the local offender health contract, after BCH serves notice on its contract. HSH takes on the full physical health service for the prisons
