Our Fight Against Coronavirus
As soon as HSH Ltd went live in April 2020, we were thrown into a global pandemic: we had to work remotely from each other, but remain cohesive; we had to think creatively about how we could continue to deliver healthcare within the secure environment setting, whilst keeping our employees and patients safe. As a new, fledgling organisation this was no mean feat; however, we have managed to do it!
As Government restrictions begin to ease, we are working to return to delivering our full range of primary healthcare services within the secure estate, through new, safe systems of work that we have been developing.
This easing of measures, however, still required us to be vigilant and to work differently. Offices and communal spaces have been reconfigured to allow for social distancing, employees who have been shielding for the past three months are in close contact with their managers and are preparing to return to work, PPE is in place, alternative meeting formats have been set up, the use of alternative technology is being explored and new ways of working, such as telephone triage, have been introduced. As Chekhov said :
“Any idiot can face a crisis, it’s the day to day living which wears you out.”
We are determined not to let this happen in HSH: we do not want to return to the mundane and predictable. If we allow this to happen, all of the learning from this unprecedented time and rapid shift of change will be lost. The experiences of the people who have been working to deliver healthcare in these extremely difficult conditions – adapting to change on a daily basis – should inform the next phase of our organisation’s development. We don’t want to lose it.
